Organic Seeds For Every Season & Garden
City Farmers Nursery is proud to offer a full line of organic seeds by seed companies who are independently owned and focused on preserving biodiversity and heirloom varieties.
We believe in providing our customers with high-quality, non-GMO seeds to ensure successful and sustainable gardening. Our seed selection includes a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, and flowers, including unique choices you might not find elsewhere.
By choosing organic seeds, you're not only supporting your own health but also contributing to environmentally friendly growing practices.
In addition to traditional seeds in packets, we also feature a bulk seed section where you can find an extensive range of seeds sold by weight.
This option allows you to purchase only the amount you need, reducing waste and saving money. This is also the most economical for larger spaces, like cover crops or seed projects for large classrooms and groups.
Our team can assist you in selecting the right seeds for your garden and provide tips on planting and care.
We carry a variety of items for seeds starting as well, like heat mats, trays, and various growing media.

A San Diego Legacy Since 1972
City Farmers Nursery has been a cornerstone of the San Diego community since its founding in 1972 by Bill Tall, affectionately known as Farmer Bill. Starting as a small roadside stand, the nursery has grown into a 1.5-acre destination for gardening enthusiasts. Bill’s vision was to create a place that not only offered quality plants but also provided free gardening advice and education to all visitors.
Over the years, City Farmers has expanded its offerings to include a wide range of native plants, edibles, and ornamental varieties. The nursery is dedicated to supporting local schools by helping establish gardens and providing resources for educational programs. Community give-back is a key part of its mission, with regular donations to local nonprofits.
City Farmers also hosts free events throughout the year, including workshops and classes that promote sustainable gardening practices. Services such as soil testing, plant diagnosis, and space planning are available to assist gardeners in their projects.
Today, under the leadership of Bill's son Sam Tall, City Farmers Nursery continues to thrive as a family-owned business, maintaining its commitment to quality, education, and community support while honoring the legacy of its roots.
