We Carry the Supplies for Creating Serene Water Features
At City Farmers Nursery, we carry the supplies, tools, and materials for creating serene and relaxing water features in any space.
Our pond and aquascape section is a testament to our commitment to helping you create your own water oasis. As you meander through our 1.5-acre property, you'll come across our beautiful water plant section, serving as both inspiration and a living example of what's possible in urban settings.
We offer a thoughtful selection of pond supplies, including pumps, filters, liners, and decorative elements to help you design and maintain your perfect water feature, whether that’s a large install, or a small patio pond.
Our helpful team can guide you through the process of setting up a new pond or enhancing an existing one. We City Farmers Nursery stocks a variety of aquatic plants, from floating lilies to marginal plants, that not only beautify your pond but also contribute to its ecological balance. We also carry mosquito fish in warmer months (June-September), to bring balance to your aquatic projects.
For those interested in learning more about pond keeping, we occasionally offer classes and workshops on pond maintenance, water care, and aquascaping techniques.
These educational opportunities align with our mission to support the community through accessible gardening education.
Whether you're a seasoned pond enthusiast or just starting your aquatic journey, City Farmers Nursery is your one-stop shop for creating and maintaining beautiful, sustainable water features that harmonize with our local San Diego environment.
We offer a range of practical services to help you succeed in your gardening endeavors:

A San Diego Legacy Since 1972
City Farmers Nursery has been a cornerstone of the San Diego community since its founding in 1972 by Bill Tall, affectionately known as Farmer Bill. Starting as a small roadside stand, the nursery has grown into a 1.5-acre destination for gardening enthusiasts. Bill’s vision was to create a place that not only offered quality plants but also provided free gardening advice and education to all visitors.
Over the years, City Farmers has expanded its offerings to include a wide range of native plants, edibles, and ornamental varieties. The nursery is dedicated to supporting local schools by helping establish gardens and providing resources for educational programs. Community give-back is a key part of its mission, with regular donations to local nonprofits.
City Farmers also hosts free events throughout the year, including workshops and classes that promote sustainable gardening practices. Services such as soil testing, plant diagnosis, and space planning are available to assist gardeners in their projects.
Today, under the leadership of Bill's son Sam Tall, City Farmers Nursery continues to thrive as a family-owned business, maintaining its commitment to quality, education, and community support while honoring the legacy of its roots.
